Kurdistan

I just spent some time in Italy and spoke with a man who said he was from Kurdistan.

I said that I didn't know that the Kurds had acquired a country and he said:

"We're working on it."

  1. I suppose identifying as a resident of Kurdistan would be somewhat similar to someone indentifying as a resident of the “Bible Belt” in the US. A perceived grouping that spans (and is oblivious to) political boundaries. Kurdistan may not be a recognized political entity, but I am guessing that in the mind of the man you spoke to it is just a real.

    1. I think somewhat more than Bible Belt, since there is the ethnic connection.
