On Sunday I listened (live) to Obama’s press conference from
Thailand. When asked about the situation
in Israel he made the following statement.
"We are fully supportive of Israel's right to defend
itself from missiles landing on peoples' homes."
The choice of words was striking. Later, in his answer (the same answer), he made
the following statements:
“We will continue to support Israel’s right to defend itself”
“Israel has every right to expect that it does not have missiles
fired into its territory”
This morning I heard talking heads on ABC, CBS, CNN &
Fox state that (in his answer from Thailand) Obama expressed support for Israel
and Israel’s actions. I would point out
that supporting a “right” is not the same as supporting a Country or a Country's actions.
Am I being too picky with words?

I think that you are not being too picky.
ReplyDeleteFor example, I support your right to burn the American Flag in protest (provided it is yours).
I would not stand with you when you did it.
