a collection of thoughts, arguments, and observations
that I have found appealing and/or amusing over the years;
and, if you choose, your civil contributions which will make it into a conversation.

On Jefferson's birthday

.
Thomas Jefferson was perhaps the only president who did not consider his presidency one of his major achievements.

His epitaph, written by him, reads:

"HERE WAS BURIED THOMAS JEFFERSON
AUTHOR OF THE DECLARATION OF AMERICAN INDEPENDENCE
OF THE STATUTE OF VIRGINIA FOR RELIGIOUS FREEDOM
AND FATHER OF THE UNIVERSITY OF VIRGINIA." And below it:
BORN APRIL 2. 1743. O.S.
DIED JULY 4. 1826.
