If the president does it ...

.
One president has his subordinates capture some of the enemy and pours water in their faces to get information and the left calls him a war criminal and bewails the abandonment of the Geneva Conventions.

Using that information another president sends an armed force into a country with whom we are not at war and without their knowledge (much less consent). They crash into a home, kill a several people, take a body and some stuff and leave.

None of my friends on the left have complained.

I think we need to reconvene at Geneva.

  1. The information that led to the raid in Pakistan did not come from waterboarding. http://www.nytimes.com/2011/05/04/us/politics/04torture.html
Obama, before he was elected, said that he would go into pakistan to get osama. People are complaining, but he has been up front about doing something like this since before the beginning.

  2. I agree with Michael that Obama has been consistent in saying that he would go into Pakistan if necessary. I would also applaud the Prez for using the intelligence (regardless of how it was collected and even IF he thought it was tainted) available to him to make the decisions he did.

I am also convinced beyond doubt that some information gathered by EIT played a role in producing a positive outcome in this case. So for those opposed categorically and absolutely to EIT on moral or humanitarian grounds I applaud you for sticking to your convictions, but drop the argument that it has no benefit.

  3. Welcome to this new Michael.

Michael it doesn't seem to me that the article supports your flat statement since it includes the following:
"One detainee who apparently was subjected to some tough treatment provided a crucial description of the courier, according to current and former officials briefed on the interrogations."
The article ends with two opposite opinions about whether EIT was involved.

Don't misunderstand me. If you read this blog you will know that I am quite happy with Obama's handling of the war(s)in general and this action in particular.

I just find the left's double standard amusing.
